Mention mode vs always-on
In groups, default to mention-only. It reduces noise, limits abuse, and keeps the agent focused.
Recommendation
- Start: mention-only (respond only when @mentioned)
- Switch later: always-on only in a dedicated bot group
Why mention-only is safer
Less prompt-injection surface
Random messages are untrusted input. Mention-only reduces exposure.
Less spam & confusion
People won’t argue with your bot when they didn't ask it.
If it still replies unexpectedly
